Meet the Band

Teacher by day, rock star by night! Hailing from Vermont, he has been actively performing as a solo folk artist both nationally and internationally for over 30 years. In that time, he also recorded and released a CD titled, “The Mountains Have a Song”. Tim returned to his classical rock ‘n’ roll roots upon joining AXIS.

His musical career started in high school as a keyboard player for Brass Tax. They played top forty tunes to audiences throughout New England. The talented band was highly regarded and were often featured in regional battles of the bands and on the New Hampshire Bandstand television series. They also played the Hampton Beach Seashell, as the backup band for the Young Rascals. Dave has a wealth of experience, having played in bands covering many musical genres.

Lives in Westfield with his wife Nancy. He has written about rock and jazz extensively, interviewing some of his favorite bass players, including Tina Wymouth(Talking Heads), Oteil Burbridge(Allman Brothers, Dead & Company), Christian McBride, and Larry Grenadier. His podcast, “Straight No Chaser” is a two-time winner of JazzTimes’ Reader’s Poll award for Best Podcast.

At the age of 9, his first band; The Ants, saw him playing trumpet. Eventually moving on to the mandolin and acoustic guitar. Then, a high school friend handed him a Les Paul plugged into a Fender Deluxe – his fate was sealed!
